In 2067 the second generation of Martian-born Colonist nears adulthood. Technology increases apace as Mars struggles with the question of its eventual future to enhance human habitation.

Uthald Haakonsson wants to be a typical teenager, but his mother and father's dreams of a different future on Mars, have given him what Uthald considers curses. They make him different. But, these perceived barriers to Uthald's social life, conceived and designed even before his birth, may be the only answer to an age old difficulty, as another generation of terrorists threaten the existence of the largest city on Mars. The safety of the Colony will depend on who and what Uthald Haakonsson is and just how far he is willing to go.
